American Automotive Policy Council (AAPC) President Matt Blunt issued the following statement on American University’s (AU) recently released 2017 Kogod Made in America Auto Index, which revealed that American auto manufacturers FCA US, Ford and General Motors (GM) manufactured 20 out of the top 25 vehicles.

“America’s three auto manufacturers once again dominated the Kogod Made in America Auto Index. American University’s research found that FCA US, Ford and GM continue to lead in the domestic automotive industry, producing 20 of the top 25 American-made vehicles. AU’s research also found that American automakers are at the top of the list in producing trucks, sedans and SUVs with U.S. auto parts,” said Blunt.

“FCA US, Ford and GM’s use of U.S.-produced auto parts and R&D are critical to the auto supply chain. Automakers, their suppliers and their dealerships support hundreds of thousands of jobs across all 50 states. In fact, two out of three U.S. autoworkers are employed by FCA US, GM and Ford, illustrating these companies’ commitment to the American economy.”
