Hankook Tire’s latest Gauge Index reveals the impact that COVID-19 is having on Americans’ current attitudes towards driving and travel. Key findings include:

  • 76% of Americans miss driving, and it’s the freedom and flexibility that drivers miss the most;
  • 60% of Americans say they will take more trips by car as a result of the pandemic, likely because Americans currently feel more than five times more comfortable traveling by car than plane;
  • Driving has turned out to be a source of stress relief for 64% of us, and 62% find it provides peace of mind; and
  • 88% of Americans canceled or postponed an event or vacation because of COVID-19, but 62% are excited or hopeful about their next vacation.
