Bosch Icon Wiper Blades Join Discovery Channel’s ‘Storm Chasers’ for How Storm Chasers Clear the Way Campaign

The national Bosch ICON advertising campaign features storm chaser Reed Timmer and his armored SUV, "Dominator" equipped with ICON blades to "clear the way," as he tangles with tornados to gather data and gain insight on these destructive twisters.

Bosch ICON wiper blades have joined forces with the intrepid group of scientists and filmmakers who hunt down tornados on Discovery Channel’s popular “Storm Chasers” program to show “How Storm Chasers Clear the Way.”

The national Bosch ICON advertising campaign features storm chaser Reed Timmer and his armored SUV, “Dominator” equipped with ICON blades to “clear the way,” as he tangles with tornados to gather data and gain insight on these destructive twisters.

Running from November 2010 through February 2011, the How Storm Chasers Clear the Way campaign includes national, 30-second TV spots on “Storm Chasers” and other Discovery Channel programming, 30-second cable TV spots in selected markets, online ad banners on Discovery Channel websites, weather-triggered online ad banners on weather-related and other auto enthusiast and general interest websites and a dedicated micro site, www.BoschClearTheWay.com, that will feature product information, video web shorts, special offers on ICON wiper blades and more

Partnering with its retail customers, the Bosch ICON micro site will link visitors to locations offering special promotions on Bosch ICON wiper blades. Offers will change periodically, so motorists are encouraged to check the site often.

“ICON wiper blades are the toughest, most capable wiper blades available and handle the worst weather conditions easily. The Storm Chasers program, with Reed Timmer and the incredible “Dominator” armored SUV, puts these blades to the ultimate test,” said Pam Krebs, director of advertising and sales promotion for Bosch. “This is an exciting program showing brave scientists pursuing violent tornados to gain insight into these devastating phenomena. We are counting on the affiliation with Storm Chasers to help extend the awareness of ICON wiper blades and their contributions to safe driving, to the widest number of motorists.”

Tune in for all new episodes of Storm Chasers on the Discovery Channel Wednesdays at 10pm EST/PT.

ICON bracketless wiper blades feature dual precision-tensioned internal steel springs, aerodynamic wind spoiler and no external joints or brackets. The patented ICON design distributes uniform pressure along the entire length of the blade for ultimate all-weather performance, and lasts up to 20 percent longer than other premium wiper blades.

The same Bosch ICON blades used on the Storm Chasers “Dominator” SUV are available to motorists for late model cars, light trucks and SUVs.

Case Study: Owner of San Francisco-based Import Service Shop Delighted to Discover Just How Valuable His Business is to Qualified Buyers
I sometimes share case studies of the clients I have been able to assist in my role as an aftermarket business broker and provider of intermediary and advisory services. I do that when I think the story will provide a reader in similar circumstances with new insights or helpful information.
In the case of Cowden Automotive, Inc., I acted in a consulting capacity assisting the owner and his broker in valuing the business, creating a marketing plan, finding a qualified buyer, and arranging financing for the sale.

Needless to say, delivering that kind of good news to a shop owner is a rewarding experience. Discovering that the sale of his business would result in his retirement nest-egg being substantially larger than he had ever thought was a fitting tribute to someone who had spent his entire working career as a busy automotive service shop owner.

Will You Adapt And Cope With Changing Technology?

I remember my boss complaining that electronic ignition was going to destroy our business back in the mid-’70s. “They are taking away our tune up business,” he would say. In some ways, he was right. Technology and change are things we can’t control. In fact, “change” is perhaps the one thing we can count on. And, as in life, it’s how we deal with change that matters.
