Federated Auto Parts and its drivers, Ken Schrader and Tom Hessert, have gone pink – the Federated teams will showcase special paint schemes for the month of October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month.

“Tom and I are proud to be running special paint schemes on our Federated Auto Parts cars all this month,” said Schrader, the longtime Federated spokesperson.  “We have lost too many friends to breast cancer.  If we can help in the fight against this disease and build more awareness for women everywhere, then we’re all for it.  The cars will certainly stand out and make a statement – an important one for all of the women in our lives.”

Schrader will sport a Breast Cancer Awareness scheme on his No. 9 Federated dirt modified car which he will race throughout the Midwest during October.  Hessert will drive his No. 52 Federated Pink Chevrolet in the final two races of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards.  Hessert’s car will make its first appearance at the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, KS, on Oct. 7 and then again in the season finale presented by Federated Car Care at the Toledo Speedway on Oct. 16.  Hessert is currently seventh in the ARCA point standings.

In conjunction with the Federated Auto Parts special paint schemes, R & R Enterprises has produced an exclusive line of merchandise to support the team’s campaign.  Schrader’s wife, Ann, will be participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Charlotte, N.C. on October 22-23, 2011 in honor of two longtime friends, Lisa Meloni and Laura Jones, who both lost their battles with cancer.

Included in the “offering” are t-shirts, license plates, decals, dog tags and a ladies hat. Designs feature trendy graphics in vibrant shades of pink and blue that complement the KSR team and sponsor logos.  Showcased in pink, the racing theme featured throughout the merchandise will appeal to everyone. Merchandise may be ordered online at www.r-ronline.com, www.r-rracewear.com, by phone at 877-730-6953, and on www.schraderracing.com.

KSR, Inc., its partners and fans will donate to Mrs. Schrader’s Avon Walk for Breast Cancer fundraising goal through the sale of the “pink” campaign merchandise, which will be offered for a limited time. Direct donations may be made to Mrs. Schrader’s fundraising efforts at http://hop.to/legsforlisa.

“The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer will be a challenge and is just one way to honor my two dear friends Laura and Lisa,” said Ann Schrader. “I’m thankful to Federated Auto Parts for supporting this, and many other causes in which Ken and our team participate. J.R. Bishop came up with a great paint scheme and R & R has produced some darling merchandise that has true meaning behind it. Ken’s fans have been very generous in supporting my fundraising goal.  I’m hoping that Ken and Tom can put the Federated cars in victory lane to bring even more awareness to the fight against breast cancer!”

When Your Shop Is Worth Much More Than You Thought

Although every sale of a shop in which I am involved has its own unique set of circumstances, which makes my job both very interesting and very challenging, Cowden Automotive stands out as particularly memorable because I was able to demonstrate to the long-time owner, Paul Cowden, that his business was worth about three times what he had initially thought.

Case Study: Owner of San Francisco-based Import Service Shop Delighted to Discover Just How Valuable His Business is to Qualified Buyers
I sometimes share case studies of the clients I have been able to assist in my role as an aftermarket business broker and provider of intermediary and advisory services. I do that when I think the story will provide a reader in similar circumstances with new insights or helpful information.
In the case of Cowden Automotive, Inc., I acted in a consulting capacity assisting the owner and his broker in valuing the business, creating a marketing plan, finding a qualified buyer, and arranging financing for the sale.

Needless to say, delivering that kind of good news to a shop owner is a rewarding experience. Discovering that the sale of his business would result in his retirement nest-egg being substantially larger than he had ever thought was a fitting tribute to someone who had spent his entire working career as a busy automotive service shop owner.

Will You Adapt And Cope With Changing Technology?

I remember my boss complaining that electronic ignition was going to destroy our business back in the mid-’70s. “They are taking away our tune up business,” he would say. In some ways, he was right. Technology and change are things we can’t control. In fact, “change” is perhaps the one thing we can count on. And, as in life, it’s how we deal with change that matters.

The Secret To Price Advertising

Believe it or not, price advertising is a good thing. I am sure you will agree, everyone likes to find a good value, and price advertising lets people in your community know that you are looking for ways to help them save money. The problem most shop owners come across is that they’re unsure of exactly how to price advertise.
