Based on an analysis of U.S. vehicle registrations by Polk, a leading global market intelligence firm, the average length of ownership of vehicles that were purchased new has risen to a record 71.4 months, or nearly six years.

New Website Launch For CCAR

Charlie Ayers, president of the Coordinating Committee for Automotive Repair (CCAR), recently announced the launch of a new website for the group. CCAR currently serves hundreds of affiliates and thousands of users worldwide, and administers millions of automotive safety and hazmat tests each year. In this past fiscal year alone, which ended in September 2011, CCAR saw in excess of 4 million tests passed.

Mudlick Mail Posts 50 Percent Jump In Revenue In 2011

Direct mail provider Mudlick Mail says it bucked the slow-recovering economy last year, with a 50 percent jump in revenue. The company, which offers direct mail campaigns to automotive repair shops, saw its sales grow from $6 million in 2010 to $9 million in 2011. In addition, Mudlick Mail’s customer base doubled from 350 shops in 2010 to 700 shops last year.

Wisconsin Lawmakers Consider Lead Weight Ban

The state of Wisconsin is considering a ban on all lead wheel weights. Assembly Bill 483, introduced on Jan. 24, would ban the sale and installation of all lead wheel weights. The bill is currently sitting in the state assembly’s transportation committee for consideration.
