Now with even more product lines available, plus a new and innovative enhancement, anyone can download and use the latest release of the app to search for even more Bosch products. The popular Bosch Part Finder app allows technicians, motorists and others to locate a Bosch part for their vehicles. Now with even more product lines available, plus a new and innovative enhancement, anyone can download and use the latest release of the app to search for even more Bosch products. The Bosch Part Finder updated mobile app can be downloaded from the App Store (iPhone and iPad) and will soon be available from the Amazon Store (Kindle Fire) and Google Play (Android) as well.

The newly-enhanced app now adds alternators and water pumps to the existing product lines that are already part of the app, which include spark plugs, wiper blades, oxygen sensors,  fuel pumps, battery chargers, air management sensors, gasoline fuel injectors, and diesel engine glow plugs. The mobile app provides part numbers for vehicles operating in the United States and Canada, along with images, product features, and technical attributes for those parts. For additional information and 360 degree images, a link is provided to the www.boschautoparts.com website.

An important and exciting addition to the app’s long list of features is the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) code lookup function. With the updated app, part information for a user’s vehicle can be accessed by entering the VIN manually or simply by scanning the vehicle’s VIN bar code. These VIN functions are part of the latest app update for iPhone and iPad and will soon be added to the Android version as well.

“The Bosch app is becoming more and more popular, and mobile communications devices are being increasingly used by customers, service, and sales personnel,” said Otto Stefaner, product data project manager for Bosch. “The app features both Browse and Search functions so users can find information by entering vehicle year, make and model, or simply by entering the Bosch part number if they already know it,” Stefaner said.

Separate from the mobile app, the Bosch Vehicle Part Finder found on the www.BoschAutoParts.com website features rotatable and scalable 360 degree images for oxygen sensors, fuel pumps, and other engine management components. The user clicks the 360 degree symbol to open the image player. The player then shows a 360 degree view of the part and includes options to zoom in on the image, advance the 360 degree ‘movie’ manually, image by image, and also offers a full screen viewing option. More 360 degree images for additional product lines are expected to be added in the future.

A special tab also allows users to view a product warranty statement. Warranty data is available for most products found on the Bosch website.

“The Bosch Part Finder app complements the comprehensive Vehicle Part Finder function on the www.BoschAutoParts.com website, which lists part numbers for products available on the Bosch Part Finder app as well as for additional Bosch product categories. This makes it easy to find the right Bosch part for virtually any vehicle sold in the United States and Canada. The next update, scheduled for the first quarter of 2013, will add starters, ignition coils, and engine management sensors to the mobile app,” Stefaner said.

When Your Shop Is Worth Much More Than You Thought

Although every sale of a shop in which I am involved has its own unique set of circumstances, which makes my job both very interesting and very challenging, Cowden Automotive stands out as particularly memorable because I was able to demonstrate to the long-time owner, Paul Cowden, that his business was worth about three times what he had initially thought.

Case Study: Owner of San Francisco-based Import Service Shop Delighted to Discover Just How Valuable His Business is to Qualified Buyers
I sometimes share case studies of the clients I have been able to assist in my role as an aftermarket business broker and provider of intermediary and advisory services. I do that when I think the story will provide a reader in similar circumstances with new insights or helpful information.
In the case of Cowden Automotive, Inc., I acted in a consulting capacity assisting the owner and his broker in valuing the business, creating a marketing plan, finding a qualified buyer, and arranging financing for the sale.

Needless to say, delivering that kind of good news to a shop owner is a rewarding experience. Discovering that the sale of his business would result in his retirement nest-egg being substantially larger than he had ever thought was a fitting tribute to someone who had spent his entire working career as a busy automotive service shop owner.

Will You Adapt And Cope With Changing Technology?

I remember my boss complaining that electronic ignition was going to destroy our business back in the mid-’70s. “They are taking away our tune up business,” he would say. In some ways, he was right. Technology and change are things we can’t control. In fact, “change” is perhaps the one thing we can count on. And, as in life, it’s how we deal with change that matters.

The Secret To Price Advertising

Believe it or not, price advertising is a good thing. I am sure you will agree, everyone likes to find a good value, and price advertising lets people in your community know that you are looking for ways to help them save money. The problem most shop owners come across is that they’re unsure of exactly how to price advertise.
