The Auto Care Association has announced the recipients of its 2014 Head of the Class Award, honoring eight auto care industry companies that continually invest in employee education and training. The award is administered by the Auto Care Association Education Committee on behalf of the association, and was created to highlight and recognize companies that continually invest in employee education and training.

A lot of fun and some exciting NASCAR racing took place over the weekend at the third annual Federated Auto Parts 400 Sprint Cup race at the Richmond International Raceway (RIR). The Federated Auto Parts 400 was televised nationally Sept. 6 on ABC-TV. Brad Keselowski captured the checkered flag, securing the No. 1 seed for the “Chase” with his win.

MAHLE Aftermarket, Service Solutions, formerly MAHLE RTI, has announced an agreement to sponsor the 2014 Service Professionals Program at the 2014 AAPEX Show in Las Vegas. The Service Professionals Program is a new customized program specifically designed to educate service and repair professionals and independent shop and store owners.

On Wednesday, Sept. 10, Customer Service expert Bill Haas will teach a FREE live, online course called “Service Selling Skills – Close One More Job.” In this course from Automotive Video Innovations (AVI), Haas emphasizes the importance of good customer service skills and shop relationships in order to make the customer feel at-ease about purchasing necessary maintenance.

The all-new Service Professionals Program at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) will feature customized education sessions, facilitated roundtable discussions, in-booth technical demonstrations and networking events to address what’s keeping shop owners and repair professionals awake at night. AAPEX is slated for Tuesday, Nov. 4 through Thursday, Nov. 6, at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas, Nev., with AAPEXedu sessions starting on Monday, Nov. 3.
Robert Bosch LLC, Automotive Aftermarket North America, has announced the launch of a new trade advertising campaign targeting the rapidly increasing DIFM (Do It For Me) market. Employing print and digital media, the integrated campaign communicates the comprehensive range of products, workshop business solutions, training and services that Bosch presents to the aftermarket.

The Class of 2014 set a new record in the scholarships awarded through the Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium (GAAS) scholarships, University of the Aftermarket (UAF) scholarships and collaborating organizations at the automotivescholarships.com website: 295 awards for a total of $320,050. The previous record set in 2013 was 250 awards for $264,050. This year’s recipients include 241 U.S. students and seven Canadian students.
