The Automotive Service Association is holding its annual business meeting and conference in Orlando, Florida, this week. The event includes speakers on many topics for improving business in the aftermarket sector.
The testimony outlined the importance of adherence to OEM repair standards for the shop, as well as the consumer, in support of the OEM compliance requirements within House Bill 8013.
During Capitol Hill meetings, ASA Chairman Roy Schnepper and ASA President and Executive Director Dan Risley outlined the importance of data access to independent automotive repairers.
The event will feature the 2018 Celebration of Excellence and AMi Graduation Ceremony Friday, May 4. In addition, attendees can expect a full slate of AMi-approved seminars covering current and future trends in the industry.
The four-day event aims to be an immersion in everything ASA, mixing special automotive repair industry training, leadership and social activities with a full tank of Disney magic.
The bill will create a stakeholder committee at the U.S. Department of Transportation, allowing policymakers to hear from all sides of the automated vehicle discussion and ensure the independent repairer has a seat at the table.
Under the program, ASA members will receive a 20 percent discount on management and administrative training courses that are hosted in the myAMi Learning Management System.
The hearing followed the Automotive Service Association’s Mechanical Operations Committee meeting with senior House Energy and Commerce staff to discuss several issues related to driverless cars and the potential impact on repair shops.
An amendment proposed for the Ohio budget legislation would exempt insurers from providing notice to customers when non-OEM parts are used in a repair.
The event featured 108 attendees, including shop owners, technicians, educators, engineers and industry VIPs who are interested in rapidly evolving vehicle technology and testing.
