On June 15, the Automotive Service Association (ASA) will hold a webinar on the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Overtime Rule. The rule updates the regulations governing which executive, administrative and professional employees are entitled to the Fair Labor Standards Act’s minimum wage and overtime pay protections.

The Automotive Service Association (ASA) will hold the third Vehicle Safety Inspection Forum on Oct. 19 in Houston. The purpose of the forum is to bring together shop owners, industry leaders and policymakers to discuss the importance of periodic motor vehicle inspection (PMVI) programs and what can be done to protect these programs.

The Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) recently held a panel on connected cars and the aftermarket during its annual VisionConference. The panel discussed the future of vehicle-to-vehicle communications, the independent aftermarket supplier’s role with advanced vehicles and how the diagnostics community can better prepare for these advances.

The Automotive Service Association, with the support of ASA Pennsylvania, has put together a robust training program, taking place in Philadelphia at the DoubleTree Airport Hotel April 8 – 9. The event will take place on Friday and Saturday, bringing a full day management session dedicated to shop owners and managers on Friday and service repair training to the technicians and service advisors on Saturday.

All ASA members are invited to attend an open board meeting on Tuesday, April 26. The meeting will be followed by a recognition luncheon and the swearing-in of the 2016-’17 board of directors. Dan Risley, ASA president and executive director, will deliver a state-of-the-association address. ASA members also are invited to participate in Lobby Day on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, April 27.

The ASA Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Resource website will serve as a consolidated hub for manufacturer-specific scan tool information, calibration and reprogramming updates, training materials and service information. The website was developed by repairers for repairers, with direct input from the manufacturers.

The company offers a suite of software products and services that auto body and service repair shops can use to improve their sales, customer service and marketing.

The Automotive Service Association has announced a series of regional training programs for technicians, service writers, managers and shop owners. The first event will take place February 26 – 27, 2016 in Orlando, Florida, at the Renaissance Orlando Airport Hotel with the support of ASA Florida. These events will take place on Friday and Saturday, bringing service repair training to the technicians and service writers on Saturday and a full day management session dedicated to shop owners and managers on Friday.
