WIX Filters, a member of the Affinia Group family of brands, has launched a new XP line of high premium oil filters engineered to withstand the toughest of driving conditions and scientifically designed to maximize the performance of synthetic motor oils.

“XP filters provide optimum protection for the increased demands on today’s vehicles,” said Donald Chilton, North American product development manager at WIX Filters. “Heavy loads, towing, high-idling city driving and severe driving conditions are no match for the enhanced durability of XP.”

XP, the third oil filter line manufactured by WIX, is available through independent auto parts dealers and warehouse distributors. According to Chilton, XP filters are ideal for vehicles subject to:
• Towing trailers, boats and heavy equipment;
• High idling conditions in stop-and-go city driving; and
• Harsh driving environments, such as dusty and muddy roads and extremely high temperatures.

“Avid automotive enthusiasts and do-it-yourself consumers want the best performance for their vehicles, but even the most devoted enthusiasts are unsure of the ideal filter to choose for synthetic motor oils,” Chilton said. “Our XP line eliminates any confusion and continues the WIX commitment to offer products that align with the demands of today’s vehicles.”

Premium oil filters such as XP provide several benefits, including:
• Wire-backed, fully synthetic media that traps more dirt, dust and grime; and
• Greater resistance to hardening and cracking due to silicone anti-drain-back valve.

“Oil is the life-blood of an engine, which means the oil filter should never be taken for granted, especially in harsh environments,” Chilton said. “The small price maintenance teams must pay for premium filters is well worth the cost when you consider the benefit and components of premium products.”

Case Study: Owner of San Francisco-based Import Service Shop Delighted to Discover Just How Valuable His Business is to Qualified Buyers
I sometimes share case studies of the clients I have been able to assist in my role as an aftermarket business broker and provider of intermediary and advisory services. I do that when I think the story will provide a reader in similar circumstances with new insights or helpful information.
In the case of Cowden Automotive, Inc., I acted in a consulting capacity assisting the owner and his broker in valuing the business, creating a marketing plan, finding a qualified buyer, and arranging financing for the sale.

Needless to say, delivering that kind of good news to a shop owner is a rewarding experience. Discovering that the sale of his business would result in his retirement nest-egg being substantially larger than he had ever thought was a fitting tribute to someone who had spent his entire working career as a busy automotive service shop owner.

Will You Adapt And Cope With Changing Technology?

I remember my boss complaining that electronic ignition was going to destroy our business back in the mid-’70s. “They are taking away our tune up business,” he would say. In some ways, he was right. Technology and change are things we can’t control. In fact, “change” is perhaps the one thing we can count on. And, as in life, it’s how we deal with change that matters.
